TUTORIAL: DOUBLE SIDED EARRINGS

The first time I was introduced to double sided earrings was when my sister brought me a pair from Japan my freshmen year of high school. They were gunmetal crown studs with double layered purple crystals that dangled. I had never seen anything like them. Three weeks later, I dropped one of them down the slit in between lockers during gym class.

Double sided earrings are earrings with two sides, usually as a stud with a visible backing. I like how versatile these type of earrings can be, and especially if you make your own 'backs' you can create an endless amount of combinations and styles.

First, we'll start with creating the stud.

Take your cabochon and a stud base and use E6000 glue. (Remember always be in a well-ventilated room.) Leave to cure.
Now unto the fun parts.

TIP: You will need to use friction backs such as these. The larger jump ring will loop through one of the sides.

Here is a pair of Forever 21 studs that I picked up. You can always use these backs with studs you already have.

You can also create dangly earrings on both sides!
