A Great Weekend

Finally back to regular blogging, eh?! Who knows, maybe I’ll sign up for another half marathon. But for now, I’m loving the fact that I don’t have to plan my weekends around crazy long runs or rush to the gym to get “just a couple more miles” in. That said, I’ve ran twice this past week since the race (one 1 miler and one 3 mile run), and it feels good to just get up and go! But no more weekly running updates. For now.

So anyways. Louisville got confused thought it was December last week. We got 10 inches of snow! Some areas in Kentucky, just south of the city, got 20 ! That’s insane for this area. Just insane. I even had a snow day off work!

I have to admit, for a split second, it was pretty. And then, I realized how much I like looking at my deck when I’m sitting on it in shorts with a beer in hand.

Gracie, on the other hand, L-O-V-E-S the snow. She is a true Iowa girl at heart. She’s obsessed!

We had her out front with us while we shoveled the driveway. I decided that shoveling the driveway is my leave favorite house chore of all time. Give me all the toilets to clean, but don’t ever make me shovel the driveway again.

Thankfully, it has warmed up since.

On Friday night, we went to dinner at Doc Crows with new friends. SO yummy (the food, not the friends ;). We’ll definitely be back! The below picture shows my gigantic beef brisket stuffed baked potato. And the mac and cheese that Kev and I shared. Delish.

Kevin got off work at a decent time on Saturday so we decided to deep spring clean the entire house. We were on our hands and knees cleaning, throwing stuff out and organizing like mad for six hours. But it was worth it! Feels so good to have that done.

We had Danny and Sara over on Saturday night and we made a taco bar, complete with margaritas and homemade guacamole. I cannot get enough guac. It’s so tasty. I make mine with avocado, tomato, lime juice and a lot of garlic powder, salt and pepper. I just keep adding the spices or lime juice until it tastes the way I want and then I smash it all up with the back of a fork. No real measurements are involved, making it super easy!

After dinner, we enjoyed a few beers and played a round of Euchre, where the girls dominated (as usual).

We slept in on Sunday, napped and finished House of Cards Season 3 (omg) like true childless 20-somethings. It was wonderful.

And that was our weekend! Kevin and I were just talking about how we feel like it was the perfect amount of fun, productive and lazy.
