Retinol Reface Review - Indeed Labs

I'm nearly 30 (not sure how I feel about that), and I have started to notice my skin getting drier, some fine lines appearing and the texture seems visible, before my skin was just ..smooth! It still feels soft and looks ok but close up I can see the perfect smoothness of a few years ago has changed. Long story short, I am unimpressed by this aging process.

I have been researching many types of products and treatments to help stop the texture changing any more and hopefully improve the skin as well if possible. My research led me to facial peels, microdermabrasion, Retinol (vitamin A), BHA's, peptides and botox.

My first stop on the anti aging ladder is Retinol and specifically a fairly new product out called Retinol Reface by Indeed Labs. Retinol is clinically proven to build collagen while targeting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth the skin and reduce age spots or discolouration by speeding up skin cell turnover. Indeed Labs have great other products and at £19.99 it is an inexpensive first foray into Retinol products although, I am sure, this must mean that there is a fairly low concentration of the ingredients, but I wanted to give it a go as a first trial.

Retinol reface is fragrance free and in a serum formulation. It claims to be non-irritating and I have found that claim to be correct so far you do have to be very careful and not put it too near your eyes as it can cause redness and stinging.

Some people will find Retinol to cause redness, dryness and irritation, mostly because the point is to speed up the cell regeneration which is bound to leave the top layer of your skin a bit peely if it's supposed to be regenerating quicker. It is silky and nice to apply, I found it more of a serum-moisturiser consistency. You apply it after cleansing and you can then layer a thicker moisturiser on top if your skin is very dry. You use it in the evenings. I like that it is fragrance free and comes in an easy to use pump dispenser with a squeezy tube so you can get every last bit out.

I looked at the ingredients and Retinol and hydroxypinacolone retinoate are mentioned, it says there is a third type of retinol included and there is a retinol-like peptide, but it isn't actually retinol.

You are also advised to use a high SPF when using Retinol, I do that anyway since being in Hong Kong as I found an awesome product called L'oreal BB UV Perfect SPF50 which is UVA/UVB . It's great and I have been using it every day since starting the Retinol Reface.

After one week

After one weeks use I noticed my skin is much smoother as my foundation has been going on a lot better, I also noticed that a horrible dry rash I had on my cheek from the cold weather had completely cleared up and a few stray milia that I had seem to have improved. I do notice that every few days my skin looks a bit dry and peely, then the next day the skin goes back to super soft and lovely.

After two weeks

My skin is really looking much better, even better than week one. My skin looks more hydrated and the milia have pretty much dissapeared, I think I have one left. I have had no dryness even though the weather has been very cold with harsh winds. I have been using a facial oil in the mornings from Aromatherapy Associates to combat any dryness from the retinol, although I am not sure there has been any really. My only problem seems to be getting the right balance with applying the product near my eyes, even if it's not very near my eyes feel quite watery so I have stopped putting the retinol reface on the sides of my face near my eye every other day which has helped a lot. I assume the skin there is just very sensitive. I haven't had any peeling or redness, my skin looks fresh and much more evenly textured. To be honest I am very impressed, I didn't think it would work this quickly.

After three weeks

My skin is looking fab if I do say so myself. Much more hydrated and my foundation goes on much better, with no milia at all. I am loving this product, it really does work. I haven't had any redness or peeling, my eyes are still a bit red sometimes when I use it and sometimes not even though I am not using it near my eyes, but it only lasts a few hours after I put it on and it's only a tiny bit in the corners, for the benefits that I get it's nothing that would stop me using this product. I am honestly very impressed, if I had paid for this product I would feel like it was money well spent (I was sent it to review). I will most certainly buy another one once this has run out. I haven't even used half the tube in three weeks so I would estimate the tube would last about 2 months to 2.5 months which is great for £19.99.

This is the best product I have tried from Indeed Labs so far with the most visible results. You can purchase it online and from Boots > Retinol Reface at Boots
