About lips

In fashion everything comes back cyclically. But not only in fashion. For sure even in architecture, and art I guess.

It is difficult to invent something new, almost impossible to revolutionize centuries of history, sophisticated minds and sweet experiments.

Even what may seem the most contemporary, urban, playful and novel, has already been done many times in a distant time.

And although in the late Thirties the selfie mania had not exploded yet, there was someone who started using a lip iconic motif.

Elsa Schiaparelli, in collaboration with Salvador Dali and inspired by an actress like Mae West, had started featuring one of the most feminine among the symbols.

A light motif for pins, accessories, fabrics, photography and furniture – the cult sofa by Salvador Dalì is just an example.

And this playful and flirtatious feeling has not been lost by any of the designers who have reinterpreted the trend with style.

">Think about the cultured and attentive Miuccia Prada, who made this the theme for an exhibition at Met,Impossible conversations” between two women – Elsa (Schiapparelli) and Miuccia;

the aggressive and unconventional deconstruction of Commes De Garcons;

the sophisticated attitude of Yves Saint Laurent, used for a wrapped dress on a black background;

the very pop and literal interpretation by au jour le jour and the sublime and
sparkling elegance of Stella McCartney SS’14 resort collection.

Oh yes, I would say she is the queen of this trend, cyclically born again, made even more attractive, when realized on clutches and earrings by the queens of accessories: Charlotte Olympia and Delfina Delettrez.
