Obsession Of The Day: Thermos Flasks

Of my many obsessions, beautiful thermos and tea flasks rank right up there. I have a smallish collection of around 15 (we are talking obsession here, so 15 doesn’t seem all that many to me) that are lined up on top of my kitchen cupboards, but I was looking at them the other day thinking that I’d like to bring them down and make them part of my decorative displays. I’d never even thought of popping flowers or stems into them until I found these pics, and as for that image of the thermos flasks that have been converted into table lamps, I’m finished. The pretty Chinese versions are not as easy to find as they were a few years back, but whenever I spot one that appeals to me I’m quick to snap it up, whether it’s new, vintage, or straight off the supermarket shelf. In Good Company and Heart & Home are places I regularly look at for thermos’ and IKEA has some colourful modern versions (that you could order through Nevada Furniture). Leave them on display as part of a mantlepiece vignette, pop some blooms into them, decorate your wedding table with bog-standard plaid supermarket flasks, or if you’re feeling crafty, copy the idea right at the bottom and use second-hand store finds to make a hanging display. So purdy!
