London's Secrets

Park Lane is a place I've whizzed past many a time, usually on one of London's red double decker buses or in my Mum's Nissan micra. There's just so many grand hotels and a helluva lot of history in the one area. When I was invited to the Intercontinental Park Lane's Secrets Of The City launch, I was a bit intrigued by all the mystery. A car arrived and whisked me through some of the nicer parts of North London, a snazzy alternative to my usual Tube drama. When I decide to go to something like this, I always try and find a way to make it relevant but also show a glimpse of what this hidden world is like. You may not be able to stay there for every London trip (though it's definitely on the when-I-have-a-milestone-birthday list) but there's afternoon teas, The Cookbook Café for brunch and bars for your perfect tipple. Saying that, I had to get my trademark lying-on-the-bed shot, what I wouldn't give to stay in the Royal Suite!

It was all so we could understand some of the bespoke experiences they offer to their guests, unlocking the secrets of each destination. After a lunch filled with Israeli delicacies (Tel Aviv) and those all important macarons (Paris, of course), we were whisked away to Floris, one of the oldest perfumers in London. I fell in love with the Cherry Blossom and Limes scents and was surprised by their pricing, whilst not cheap they certainly wouldn't look out of place on any birthday list. If you really want to push the boat out, you can even create something bespoke. The store was established in 1730 and you know you're in good hands when the order books read like a who's who of the British monarchy. We had a wander around and stumbled across a museum of sorts with old notes, packaging and magazine articles arranged in a social-media friendly way. Exactly the kind of thing that floats my boat.
