Ariana Stein

Dancing around in the sunshine streaming through the windows of her Marylebone flat, Ariana Stein exudes a passion and energy when it comes to talking jewels. However it is clear that her true love lies with the elegant glamour of the 70’s heyday and with what she describes as “the classic Pucci lifestyle”. Inspired by her childhood memories of the chic european women on the beaches in the French Riviera, Ariana launched resort wear label Paloma Blue last year to great success. Fusing classic silhouettes with contemporary edge, her debut collection of vibrant prints and silk separates were snapped up by boutiques all over the globe. As she prepares to launch her second collection and we head towards summer, Ariana shares her collection of covetable jewels as we get under the skin of what it means to be a true Paloma Blue girl.

Where does the name Paloma Blue come from and what led you to start the brand?

Paloma Blue is named after Paloma Beach in the Cote d’azur where I used to go as a child. I have collected resort wear for many years and wanted to create my own collection that was fresh and feminine. Paloma Blue is for women of all ages, from all walks of life and the pieces can be worn from the beach to the city and from day to night.

You design all the fabrics yourself – where does the inspiration come from?

The prints are an eclectic mix collected from my travels all over the world. Many are taken from interior designs which are a passion of mine. My prints are hugely influenced by Pucci and Missoni for their vibrant colour combinations.

When did your love affair with jewellery begin and can you remember the first piece of jewellery you ever owned?

I was given an enamel ring with dolphins by my grandmother at a young age which I wore every day as well as chain bracelet that was engraved with my initials. My passion for jewellery never stopped from that point onwards. “Obsessed with rings” would be an understatement.

How would you describe the jewellery you wear?

Collecting antique and contemporary pieces is a passion of mine; I love to mix old and new. I am definitely a gold girl and I love to stack! More is more! I feel lost without my rings!

Your silks are designed for summer – what jewels would you pair with a Paloma Blue outfit?

A gold cuff and some stacked rings are staples with a Paloma Blue outfit. I’m a sucker for midi-finger rings but I have to be careful not to let them slip off into the sand!

What are your favourite pieces in your collection?

Thats a tough one! My favourite contemporary pieces are my snake ring from Khai Khai and my Sabine G white and yellow diamond pinky ring. My most special antique pieces are a little ring spelling LOVE which my mother had as a child and of course my grandmothers diamond and sapphire gold rings.
