HGTV Magazine Feature

If you are out and about this weekend and happen to be in a checkout line at the supermarket, check out the January issue of HGTV mag. You’ll find four bloggers, including me, featured in it.

The feature is called Smart Spending Bloggers. We were asked to collaborate on a style challenge and come up with a budget-friendly design styled around one piece of furniture that they chose. I was sent 3 different pieces of furniture to create around.

For the feature, they chose the board I created for an entryway bench. They styled the picks on their set and took the photos you see in the mag.

You can find all the details on the DIY projects featured in all 4 challenges at HGTV magazine online.

Since I made 3 boards, I thought I would show you one that they didn’t use…

…It was my favorite.

I think “Mood Boards” should be called “Dream Boards”. A collection of items you wish you had in real life. I may incorporate a few of these items into my decor soon…especially the clock.

This is how I would makeover the dresser. I would decoupage the gift wrap to the insets on each drawer front. The 2 clear knobs would go on the left and right small drawers and the black and white zinnia knobs on the 3 larger drawers. I would place the turnlock knob in the small center drawer and hang the lime green tassel from it. I would place the acrylic or black and white tray on top of the dresser. I didn’t choose a lamp, but a nice brushed brass wall mounted swing arm would look nice.

Since we are still in the deep freeze, why not create your own dream board this weekend? You can do it while snuggled in front of the fire. The best thing…it’s free. You don’t have to buy a thing; just gather your picks in one file to use as inspiration for future projects. I don’t make mood boards much, but do rip pages from magazines and place them in files. I have learned not to buy anything on a whim. I wait for a few months to a year after I added them to the file. If I still like an item, then I know, if I do buy it, it will be smart purchase and will fit perfectly with my style.

Happy Weekend.

XO
