london showrooms

Before heading straight to a casting and meeting with a friend yesterday, I made a quick stop to the London Showrooms at Ace Gallery. London Showrooms hosted by the British Fashion Council comes to LA every season, and this season my friend and favorite Brit Kelsi invited me along for the show. I was so excited to see the collections up close and personal from the big guns such as Nicholas Kirkwood (met him a few nights prior and his sweetness is utterly swoon worthy) and Jonathan Saunders, and found a heap of new favorite designers to watch for along the way. First stop: Jonathan Saunders. Then there was Richard Nicholl, who curated a collection on structured pieces in vivid, primary colors. The citrus orange set struck out to me the most. Followed by one of my favorite shoe designers, Nicholas Kirkwood! Some of them were seriously mind bending, I tell you. I love how varied the collection is. From Baroque like tapestry, gilded heels and Picasso like pieces, Nicholas Kirkwood always creates statement shoes that are unconventional and fun. Then I briefly met Louise Gray, whose quirky pieces were stunningly well made and rich in detail and colors.Peter Pilotto‘s pieces are out of this world. Each dress gave off an aquatic or space age vibe. The prints, the beading, and the cut outs are impeccable. How amazing are the details on David Koma’s shoes? I wouldn’t mind gliding through the year in both of those babies. Lastly there was Michael Van Der Ham-my new favorite designer I found in the showroom who is now on my radar. I’m completely mad over the two contrasting but cohesive sets displayed above, mainly because I would most certainly opt for both. Appliquéd gold sequin dresses and floral and brights color blocking, be mine? Getting a taste of London fashion here in LA was a refreshing change of scene and aesthetic. Needless to say, I’m stoked to inject some English charm into my wardrobe.
