Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation Review

On the contrary to my last movie review (here), this is a positive one!

I'm a huge fan of the Mission: Impossible movies, as action movies are some of my favourites. So as you can imagine, I was really anticipating the release of this fifth installment.

In Rogue Nation, you find Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) trying prove the existence of the Syndicate, a dangerous shadow organization operating right under the IMF's nose. However, the government succeeds in disbanding the IMF, so Hunt must stay under the radar while finding evidence against the Syndicate. With minimal leads, he recruits Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and retired MI6 agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) to help him take down Syndicate leader Solomon Lane (Sean Harris).

This was such a good addition to the M:I series, and was filled with many familiar faces from the earlier movies, including Benji Dunn, William Brandt (Jeremy Renner), and Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames).

Brimming with edge of the seat action scenes, Cruise performs his most daring stunts yet. There is definitely not a dull moment in the movie. It takes you around the world, from the opera in Austria, to high speed car (and motorcycle) chases on the streets of Morocco, and back again to London.

I will say, I still preferred Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (MI4) more than this one, especially since that is one of my favourite movies. I also found that Rogue Nation was a bit simpler than Ghost Protocol, as most of the movie was just a chase for Solomon Lane. But nonetheless, it was a really fun (and intense) movie that I thoroughly enjoyed.

As always, here is the trailer:

And if you love the Mission: Impossible movies, you'll be excited to hear that a sixth one has been announced!
