Fill-In Stamping

Hello again! I am finally back to share another technique video with you. Today’s is very simple… and a way to use your small images and soft inks to make a one-layer-card even more impressive.

Many stamps sets include small images that we often overlook. My card examples today show how to use these “extra” images along with soft inks to create fun backgrounds for focal images on (mostly) one-layer-cards. This especially works well with whimsical cards like the ones I created today with oh-so-fun Pinkfresh Studio stamps (SSS | PFS).

My first card features images from the Pinkfresh Studio Tealightful Day (SSS | PFS) and Pinkfresh Studio Enjoy the Journey (SSS | PFS) stamp sets. I stamped the main “scene” on Neenah Classic Crest 110lb Cardstock with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I then filled in all the white space around the main images by stamping with tiny images and Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink. The background adds to the fun, whimsical feel and steps the card up a bit.

The next card features the Pinkfresh Studio Enjoy the Journey Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) along with Pinkfresh Studio Basic Banners Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) dots stamped with Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink. There is something so sweet about these images and the sentiment from the Pinkfresh Studio Bird With Flowers Stamp Set (SSS | PFS).

This technique of fill-in stamping for backgrounds can also be done around die cutting. Here, I arranged Pink Fresh Magical Unicorn Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) images and Pinkfresh Studio Magical Unicorn Dies (SSS | PFS) die cuts on the center of a white panel. I then stamped a small cluster star image with Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink around the white space.

This card has me so giddy! Can’t wait to make more.

My next example is a bit different. The focal point at the center of this card is a sentiment… and the rest of the card is filled with soft layered stamping. This sweet sentiment and the floral images are from the Pinkfresh Studio Happy Everything Stamp Set (SSS | PFS).

You can also use larger images to do the fill-in stamping technique. Here, I stamped and colored the main image from the Pinkfresh Studio Fleur 1 Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) in the center… and other floral images around it with Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink. (The sentiment is from the Pinkfresh Studio Happy Everything Stamp Set (SSS | PFS)… and the inside says “and I love you for it.”)

Although I love the look of soft grey ink for fill-in stamping, other soft colors work, too. After stamping images from the Pinkfresh Studio Bird With Flowers Stamp Set (SSS | PFS), I used Pinkfresh Studio Dainty Botanicals Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) and Hero Arts Soft Vanilla Ink to create an interesting background.

You can also use this technique to create quick, simple cards. For this card I used the Pinkfresh Studio Believe Stamp Set (SSS | PFS) and Pinkfresh Studio Fleur 1 Stamp Set (SSS | PFS).

… and another using the Pinkfresh Studio Thanks (SSS | PFS) and Pinkfresh Studio Basic Banners Stamp Sets (SSS | PFS).
