Guest Artist Video: Watercolor Vellum with Carissa Wiley + GIVEAWAY (Jennifer McGuire Ink)

Hi there. I am again traveling with the family… this time to Alaska. (We like to go on as many adventures as possible when school is out! But for all you dog lovers – no worries. Our friend Hudson is staying at our house and keeping Roxie company.)

Today I have another guest artist video for you. The incredibly talented Carissa Wiley joins us to share how to create a watercolor look on vellum.

Carissa is one of my favorite cardmakers so I was thrilled she did this great video for us. Her technique of “watercolor on vellum” results in such soft and stunning backgrounds.

To achieve this look, Carissa scribbled Copic Markers on to a sheet of vellum. She spritzed it with rubbing alcohol and took a paintbrush to move the color around. The result is a beautiful watercolor-like background.

In her video, Carissa also shares some clever tips on how to adhere the vellum to cards.

This next card is my favorite. That glitter (from AC glitter paper) “hello” (from Hero Arts die) is divine!

I really like Carissa’s use of embellishments. She always finds the perfect placement and I can’t get enough of her trademark touch of bold black on a soft card with gold glitter accents.
