Shaker Ornaments + Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Hello. Today I share how to make layered shaker ornaments – they are such fun! I also am participating in a blog hop celebrating the release of the best Hero Arts kit yet…

Oh my goodness these ornaments were SUCH fun to make! I plan to make several more and hang them on teacher gifts this year. The kids can help too!

For my first ornament, I created a background using Distress Inks and white pigment ink… along with a DIY stencil created with the incredible Hero Arts Circle Confetti Die. I then built up the walls of the shaker ornament with several layers of cardstock rings that I made with the Hero Arts Nesting Circle Dies. These form a strong and clean looking wall.

Next, I started adding stamped images and die cut pieces that I created with the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero October Kit. Aren’t they cute?! For the shaker bits, I used the sequins and beads from the kit and then added a die cut acetate circle – also from the kit. I could have stopped here but instead added another shaker window layer on top of that and more stamped pieces. The layering adds so much dimension and fun. It makes a HUGE difference and is worth the time!

For the second shaker ornament, I used the Hero Arts Wintertime Fun Stamps and diesboth are add-ons for this month’s Hero Arts kit. The mailbox is perfect for cardmakers! I also used the fake snow included in the kit.

I think these shaker ornaments would be great to hang on gifts. But if you want to give the ornament as a gift itself, you can present it on the front of a card like I did below. I created the background with the new and oh-so-fabulous Hero Arts Star Confetti Die. (I will be using this one a lot!) I held the ornament to the front with a heat embossed vellum strip.

I hope you will try making a shaker ornament. They are really fun to do and kids like making them too!

HERO ARTS BLOG HOP

This post is part of a blog hop celebrating the new October My Monthly Hero Kit. This month’s fabulous kit is only $34.99… but the value is over $60! A great deal. However, I will warn you: these kits usually sell out in a couple days. And I think this is going to be the most popular! Once they are gone, they are gone. You can get one HERE. Also note that there are many excellent add-on products (HERE), but this is what is in that great kit…

The next blog on the hop is that of the oh-so-very-talented Jessica Frost-Ballas. You can always start at the beginning of the hop at the Hero Arts Blog.
