Video: Watercolor Stamping (Jennifer McGuire Ink)

Welcome. Today I have a video sharing a way to get great watercolor results with very little effort. Gotta love that!

I always have wanted to be a wonderful watercolor artist, but it just wasn’t in the stars for me. So I am a big fan of any technique that let’s me “fake” fabulous watercolor results! Using watercolor markers is very helpful… and I love the vibrant color.

For today’s cards, I used the new Spectrum Aqua Markers. (Although you can use any watercolor markers you may have.) I will be honest – I wasn’t sure I needed another marker that I could use for watercolor since I have a few I like. However, after playing with them, I discovered two big/unique things I really liked the Aqua Markers. First, I really like the super-fine tip. It is very high quality and great for details. Second, this marker stamps very well! I was impressed. I scribbled the ink onto a solid stamp and stamped it. The results? Very crisp. Awesome. The Spectrum Aqua markers worked great for today’s technique! (You can read the other properties of these markers HERE.)

For these cards, I colored the My Favorite Things tulip image with the Spectrum Aqua Markers and stamped on watercolor paper. I then just added water into the images… allowing the water to pull the color in from the color outline.

For the background, I used silver pearl embossing powder (an inexpensive must-have) on light grey cardstock with the new My Favorite Things Garden Flourish background. For two of the cards, I stamped the sentiment from the Whimsical Wishes set on a white piece cut with the awesome Basic Edge Dies. (I will be using these a lot.)

For the third card, I stamped the sentiment from the tulip set onto a diagonal-stitched-edge rectangle die cut. (This Inside and Outside Diagonal Stitched Rectangle die set is another good one.)

I will be using this technique again. It is fun! I hope it works well for you too.
