TRAVEL DIARY: YOU LIFT ME UP

Of course my trip to Tokyo wouldn't be complete without paying an obligatory visit to Lift Ecru and Lift Etage, undoubtedly two of the best boutiques in the entire universe. Nestled in the posh area of Shibuya, a stone's throw away from the Daikanyama station, Lift prides itself by showcasing an eclectic mix of modern art and cutting-edge fashion since 1993.
I literally had to catch my breath while perusing both stores. I could easily spend tens of thousands here. Imagine 2,000 bucks ($2,000.00) for a pair of those Carol Christian Poell drip sneakers! At least, I know where to go if ever I win that very elusive lottery!
Aside from the current main collections of revered avant garde labels such as Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga and Ann Demeulemeester, Lift has an impressive archive of deadstock Carol Christian Poell pieces. You can also find a good selection of Label Under Construction, Lumen et Umbra, Stephan Schneider, Giorgio Brato and Guidi here. Of course, everything comes with a price so make sure you have your black Amex when you swing by. Because frankly, I don't remember seeing anything less than 200 bucks ($200.00) at both locations. But for something that is unique and timeless, you definitely get your money's worth. So go indulge and get your spirits high while shopping at Tokyo's shopping heaven!
