In Love with Midi and Pleats: Office and Play Outfit
Skirt - Zara (similar here) / Blouse - Zara / Bag - Forever21 / Heels - H&M (similar here) / Sunglasses - Vintage (similar: Asos 1, Asos 2, Ray Ben)
DE// Ich stehe gemeinsam mit gefühlten dreiundzwanzigtausend anderen Menschen in der Subway (1 train Brooklyn bound, nur zur Information, falls ihr mal nach New York zieht, das ist nicht angenehm zur Rush Hour) und berühre ungefähr sechs von ihnen. Immerhin funktioniert die Klimaanlage, aber trotzdem wünsche ich mir diverse fremde Körperteile nicht auf meiner Haut. Endlich öffnen sich die Türen an meiner Station, die Menge trägt mich raus, in die Hitze. Es ist 8.30 Uhr und es sind schon 28 Grad. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit liegt in einem zu hohen Bereich und es sind noch exact 1,448 km (danke Google Maps)bis zur Arbeit. Aber sobald ich laufe, stresst mich gar nichts mehr. Weder die anstehenden E-mails, das fensterlose Büro, das leere Portemonnaie und der knurrende Magen, die vielen Menschen, die Taxis, die nicht halten, obwohl sie rot haben. Es ist mir egal. Denn ich spüre wie mein Rock mit jedem Schritt schwingt. Wie der schwache Wind sich trotzdem unter die Falten legt. Wie der weiche Stoff meine Beine umspielt. Ich bin verliebt. Ich bin offiziell verliebt in Midi-Röcke und insbesondere in diesen. Die Farbe ist (für mich) perfekt. Die Länge auch. Ich kann ihn problemlos ins Büro tragen, denn er ist eindeutig lang genug und schützt außerdem vor dem kalten Zug der Klimaanlage. Auch für draußen ist er erstaunlicherweise gut geeignet, denn er schwingt luftig umher, kühlt mich sogar ein wenig herunter und versetzt mich in ein anderes Jahrhundert. Sollen sich die anderen Leute doch heute Sorgen machen, ich bin ganz woanders in Gedanken. (Meine Kollegin hat mich gefragt, ob ich nach der Arbeit ein Date habe, weil ich so 'pretty' aussehe. Ich habe von insgesamt fünf weiteren Frauen Komplimente bekommen. Ich glaube Männer stehen da nicht so drauf, aber alle Mädels haben mich auf den Rock angesprochen. Und mich damit noch mehr in neue Verliebtheit sinken lassen.)

EN// Together with what feels like twenty-three-thousand people I am on the Brooklyn bound 1 train. My colleague gets anxious when I only mention this specific subway line. I can feel numerous bodies touching mine. At least the air condition is working. When we finally arrive my station the crowd takes me out to the streets, to the heat. It is only 8.30am and it is already 28 degrees celsius. The air is way too humid and reminds me of my vacation on Bali. But without palm trees and fresh exotic fruits. But as soon as I start walking I do not care anymore. I do not care about the insane amount of people, about all the unread e-mails waiting for me, the window-less office, my empty wallet but rumbling stomach, the cabs that almost hit me. Nothing gets to me. I am totally cool. Because I can feel my skirt swinging with every step. I feel its soft fabric touching my legs, its perfect color matching my mood and how the weak wind gets between the pleats. I feel like I am in another century. And I am in love. I am madly in love with midi-skirts and especially this one. It obviously has an office-appropriate length, looks like a lot of effort when it is not and protects my legs from the freezing cold air conditioning. It is just perfect. (My other colleague asked whether I have a date after work because I looked so 'pretty'. I got compliments for the skirt from five other women. I guess men do not really like midi-skirts but seems like girls do. And this make me feel in love even deeper.)
