I have to give complete credit to Matthew for knocking out this project last week. I felt productive because I picked up a paint swatch of Hale Navy on Friday afternoon. I assumed that would hang on our wall for at least six months. That's usually how I operate. But Matthew came home, picked up the swatch, said okay, let's paint.
I won't bore you with the details. He cut in with a brush and rolled the rest. We color matched to Sherwin Williams' Solo Paint because it's right by our house and they were having a sale. I've never really had and problems color matching this way. It took two coats and we were done!
If you follow along on instagram, you know we had some debate over what to do with the chair rail. In a perfect world, we'd remove it. But that's just one extra DIY we weren't interested in right now. In the end we decided to paint the chair rail Hale Navy along with the walls. It actually looked nice against the crisp white, but aren't going for a nautical look in here. It's a den. A men's den. The uninterrupted dark color is moodier which we love.
This room is also a giant mix of hand-me down furniture. Some of the accessories and pillows are things I've picked out, but we're mostly working with what we've got here. I love how the dark color really makes everything pop and feel cohesive. The room also feels about 50 years younger already, which I love.
