Catching Up

To say this has been a crazy couple of weeks is an understatement. Between travel, home renovations and end of school year activities, I can barely see straight. I wanted to take a little time today to catch up. Sometimes it feels I have far more to share than hours in the day, so this is a little wrap up of all of those little things.

One of the reasons I love blogging are the relationships I’ve made, especially with readers. I love seeing how you interpret my ideas and recipes. Nothing brings me more joy than making something a little more effortless for you or giving you the confidence to try something new. I have received an overwhelming response from our kitchen makeover, including images of similar transformations. Today I wanted to share Breanna’s “copycat kitchen” {her words}, which is strikingly similar! Any time I can be a resource for you, don’t hesitate to reach out! You’ll see here she painted her cabinets white, used the same hardware, faucet and tile, but with a darker grout. Gorgeous, Breanna! I hope you’re enjoying yours as much as we enjoyed ours.

Before renovating that kitchen, I wanted to live in it to see if we needed to replace the cabinets or if we could make the existing layout and cabinetry work for us. In the meantime, I couldn’t tolerate the black dishwasher in my freshly painted white kitchen, so I used stainless steel contact paper as a temporary fix. Little did I dream that years later Jeff Lewis would be talking about it and sharing images of it on the Meredith Vieira Show! JEFF LEWIS! If I had known then what I know now, I would have taken a photography class or two. Still, I’m thrilled. You can watch the video here and find my tutorial here.

Over the weekend we demo’d our mudroom and bath. I guess this is really happening! Click here to see my plans. I’m beyond excited for the brick floors alone!

Our custom copper lanterns arrived yesterday and of course I’ve hung them already. I can’t wait to photograph and share them with you. You can catch a sneak peek on Instagram.

One reader had a brilliant suggestion – sharing the floor plan of our home! Unfortunately, I have no idea how to create a “blueprint.” If you or someone you know does, I’d love to chat with them.

If you’re entertaining over Memorial Day weekend, I’ve collected my patriotic recipes for you here and favorite grilling recipes here.

As always if you have any questions, I’d love to hear from you!
