Potty Time

We tried potty training back when Avery had just turned 2. She was interested in the potty and in having big girl undies, so we thought we would go for it.

Well she just wasn't there. I think she could have done it physically, but mentally she wasn't ready. Her lack of attention span made it impossible. She still wanted the potty around, but only so she could take off her diaper sit on the potty (not pee) and then run into the kitchen and pee in the corner. So we actually had to hide the potty in a coat closet. She found it twice, which resulted in hysterics, but it stayed hidden in the garage for months after that.

Well about a week and a half ago Avery told us she needed to go potty. So we went with it. We started out slow, only when we were home and she wasn't sleeping. She had 2 accidents over a three day period, but nothing major. She loved our super ghetto sticker chart (I wasn't prepared for potty training, because she decided she was into it so suddenly).

After that it was smooth sailing. She had no accidents (two little leaks, which she ran into the bathroom during, which I don't count, since it was like drops). She pooped in the potty like nothing (we give her 2 M&M's for a poop, but only stickers for pee).

She was sick during this period, which left us a solid week of being home to really focus on potty training. Yesterday she went to daycare for the first time since potty training began and she rocked it! Not one accident, and she would tell the teach when it was time. She still wears diapers at night and for naps, but I am thinking we aren't too far from transitioning that. She is now waking up each morning with dry or mostly dry diapers.

We do go out and about and she hasn't had any accidents! We bring the Dora potty cover that sits on top of a regular potty. I keep it in a reusable grocery tote thing and it is magic, less dirty and not super conspicuous!

She looks so big with her undies on!
Her Dora carry along potty! (We got this from a friend and it is sooo useful)!
Her musical princess potty!
This stool for hand washing, because she refuses help from us!
And this is such a great little thing, it makes it so she can easily wash her hands on her own!

If this is it for potty training, we hit the jackpot.
