Trend to Try: Dark Florals

We love a girly, garden-variety flower print as much as the next gal, but sometimes find that bright blooms can skew a little bit saccharine. The dark florals that have been popping up on Hollywood chicsters are a different story, however. These black-based patterns—seen on dresses, jumpsuits and more—feel decidedly urbane and just the slightest bit moody. Could they be summer’s most sophisticated print?

On Nikki Hilton, the answer is yes. The socialite recently stepped out in a petal-print mini dress and leather jacket.

Emma Roberts opted for a sundress with a tropical motif set against a black background.

Jessica Alba chose a rose-print Michael Lauren jumpsuit ($119) for errands.

Taylor Swift’s floral frock has a retro edge.

The trend was even spotted on Editor of TheKidzJump.com, J. Carter pictured below:

Want step onto the dark side? Opt for a patterned piece in a day-to-night silhouette, and we promise you can wear it anywhere. Dressed up with metallic shoes, it’s cocktail party-ready. Paired with the season’s de rigeur white Birkenstocks, and the look is laid-back cool.
