How to Dress For an Interview.

For me, finding an outfit for an interview is one of THEE most stressful things to do, next to deciding what to wear to a “meet the parents” dinner party (I will be posting outfit ideas for this occasion later on this week). No matter what job you are applying for, you should always dress your best! First impressions DO matter, especially when it comes to interviews. A basic rule to follow is to wear neutral colors (navy blue, cream, white, and gray). You may want to reconsider that awfully loud, orange blazer if you’re applying for a secretary position. Your outfit needs to be appealing, but shouldn’t make a louder statement than your personality or job qualifications. Make sure you do your research on the company and position you are applying for, and dress accordingly. Is the environment warm and friendly enough to wear khakis, or is it fast-paced and business-like, requiring slack and heels? Are employees expected to follow a strict dress code, or can you wear jeans and a t-shirt to work? Your outfit should make you feel confident and comfortable at the same time (If you never wear heels, this probably isn’t the best time to start experimenting). When you look and feel great, you project confidence and a great attitude, which are qualities all employers look for in potential candidates.
