CITRUS + BASIL APEROL SPRITZ

I can’t make an Aperol spritz & not think of Whitney. If she were a drink, she’d be this. Bright, effervescent, so pretty – but with a little tang & bite. Whitney’s version has a subtle twist to the classic as well. She’s big on aromatics (delicious smelling things), so a big branchy plus of basil is getting added to the drink, along with a ruby slice of blood orange. With each sip, your nose grazes and takes in the scent of the basil and fresh orange, but without it interfering with the flavor of the drink. It’s such a simple twist, but it makes a difference.

INGREDIENTS

For 1

1ounce soda water

2 ounces aperol

3 ounces prosecco

1 sprig basil

1 slice blood orange

DIRECTIONS

Combine the soda, Aperol, and Prosecco over ice, garnish with basil and a slice of orange. Enjoy while looking ver elegant indeed.
