10 WAYS TO WEAR A TURTLENECK

I have a feeling turtlenecks are the item of the moment. I see them everywhere, I love seeing them, I want to wear them a lot. Like Birkenstocks, they are a sort of ugly duckling that only blossoms through repetition on fashion sites. Call me a follower, but I’m fully convinced by the aesthetic and usefulness of the turtleneck. And if I do a good job with this post, you might get on the wagon, too:

Leandra Medine might be the reason why the turtleneck is back – this girl is wearing it with everything! My favorite is this look, where the striped shirt acts as a barrier between the red turtleneck and pinafore. It’s bold and gorgeous and where do I sign up.

Leila Yavari pairs a suede/leather geometrical dress with a turtleneck and the result is all nice and warm. She keeps the color palette neutral all over, which makes for a very subtle-chic look.

A plain turtleneck complements pastel, wide leg pants perfectly, as seen on Toni of Fashion Your Seatbelts. It’s simple, it’s effortless, and it’s comfortable, too.

Monochrome just looks classy, and this fashion week goer perfected the winter nautical look. The pants are coat are elegant and the sneakers are casual, leaving the turtleneck as an intermediate.

In this look from a few weeks back, I wore a polka dot shirt over a turtleneck, leaving it partially unbuttoned (and wrinkly, but that’s another story). The mix of prints works because of the similar color palette, while the coat is simply a necessity in cold climate.

If you doubted that turtlenecks could look elegant, this is the outfit to look at. The full, partially sheer midi skirt, the stilettos and cat eye sunglasses are in all honesty chic as can be.

I envy this woman for coming up with such an outfit! The contrasting textures, the shiny shoes and the long length make this absolutely awe-inspiring.

I like how the colors in Lella Victoria‘s look are neutral, but the multiple layers make it so interesting. Plus, the play on masculine feminine looks terrific.

You know you’re dedicated to your turtleneck when you dare wear it under a tank top! This Viktor & Rolf pre-fall look is toned down with pants, which makes it look a bit like a jumpsuit – not that I don’t like that!

This is so French, I’m gonna die! Typhaine wears the turtleneck in the easiest way possible, yet it looks impressively chic. Obligatory accessory: that red lipstick.
