BEHIND THE SCENES // BUDAPEST BIRTHDAY

For my birthday this year, I got to go to Budapest! It’s easily accessible by car, it’s absolutely beautiful, and these days I’ll take any excuse to take a trip. I spent my actual birthday mostly on the road and by the time we arrived in Budapest, it was raining heavily with chunky pieces of ice. It was pretty scary! But after checking in at a nice Airbnb, we went out and enjoyed a glass of wine in the famous Szimpla Kert pub, some nachos at a Mexican place, and a foggy view of the Danube in the rain.

The next day started off on the right foot, with a delicious breakfast at Budapest Bagel. Then we did the whole tour – bridges, the citadel, Buda castle, Hungarian National Gallery museum, Central Market – and still had time for eating cherries by the river and taking a boat ride at dusk. Finally, on Thursday, we tried one of the thermal baths (Kiraly) just before hitting the road again. So if you were to take a brief trip to Budapest, I’d put all of these things on the list!
