I’ve been talking a lot about turtlenecks lately, and here I am wearing one again. However, that doesn’t mean I forgot about my first layering love: the button down shirt. For a long time, I thought this piece was reserved for yearbook pictures, presentations in front of the classroom and, later, job interviews. But then my wardrobe changed, and I swapped the jeans for dresses, adding shirts here and there whenever I had the chance. They’re hard to resist, especially when they come in cute prints! I could even say that the button down shirt is my signature piece, because I wear it all the time.
The shirt I’m wearing in these pictures isn’t like the others I own. It has black and white stripes, but the collar is bright red. Not quite a zebra print, which is probably for the best. It’s fitted and the fabric is sheer, making it easy to wear under a dress or on its own (in my case – in between a turtleneck and a dress). I love that about a shirt: it adds a bit of warmth without giving me lumps all over.
Are you team turtleneck or team button down?
