MY LFW LOOKBOOK

I admit I almost missed London Fashion Week entirely. Was that the shortest week ever? Before I knew it, it was already Prada and the Milan designers showcasing. Either way, I managed to go through the collections and find a few trends I like. Trends are so subjective, you can make one out of nothing – I love that.

Fall is not usually about florals and botanic prints, probably just because of preconceptions. And while the print may not be groundbreaking for either season, it sure has a way of cheering me up. Nothing is easier than a white shirt under a sleeveless floral dress (Erin Fetherson), unless of course you go the turtleneck way (Markus Lupfer).

Alright, maybe this isn’t a trend unless you want it to be. And I do. One of my favorite colors was spotted on London’s runways, showing not only that it’s the perfect hue for the cold season, but also how versatile it is. Worn head to toe, with gray and even blue, I say mustard has every chance of becoming easy as a neutral.

Browse centuries and centuries of art by simply browsing the Fall-Winter 2015 collections from London! Some designers were very literal about their inspiration while others were more subtle with strokes of paint and symbols. I like seeing color on the runway as opposed to dark, gloomy outfits, so I like the artsy trend.

Speaking of dark, gloomy outfits – it seems like everyone who put a bow around the model’s neck was going through a depressed governess phase. The looks are almost exclusively black and white and they’re severe rather than sweet (as one would expect from the bows). I still enjoy the masculine/feminine play though.

Velvet is not the easiest fabric. Sure, it’s got the royalty factor and the softness. But would you ever imagine wearing a velvet jumpsuit? Topshop Unique can! Personally, I’d opt for that incredibly elegant Emilio de la Morena dress, and leave the unwearable to the models. How about you?
