Wardrobe Wednesday - Midi Skirts

Ok ladies, this year in Wardrobe Wednesday I've highlighted the pencil skirt, the maxi skirt, and the full skirt. What is left I hear you ask.... the midi skirt of course! In my opinion this is a tricky one, but it seems those Americans are rocking the 'Midi' summer to fall, so why can't we.

What I Wore: House of Fraser nude wedges, thrifted floral midi skirt, Glassons white top, Toti flower necklace.
Cutting our legs off below the knee for many of us seems contrary to everything we know about dressing for our shape and the rule of thirds. The only way I could see to work through this shape/proportion dilemma was stick with nude shoes and make sure you have the right top to lengthen your body at the top.

I've previously done a Take 5 post with this skirt and I think the real secret is the height of the photographer/viewer. Wouldn't it would look amazing to everyone if they were 4 feet tall rather than my 6 foot husband/photographer :)

Today's Wardrobe Wednesday lady of inspiration is another long-time Linkee, Fur Earwig from the blogger known as List Addict. This is such a unique blog as each outfit post is the model Irene (a dummy shown below) vs our blogging friend.... who wore it best style. She is such a fun, quirky writer and I promise every post gets me giggling. Although this skirt is more a-line than midi, it was the best I could do to illustrate my point from last week's participants (and really I just wanted to feature her because she's cool :)

How to join Wardrobe Wednesday?
  1. Link in your specific blog post not just your general blog (or post a picture on the Facebook page);
  2. Link to a post about clothes - that's what we're here for;
  3. Please follow the blog (Bloglovin, Google Friends or Facebook) and add a link back here so other people can come over and see people's clothing posts too - the old fashioned way or grab a button; and most of all
  4. Be encouraging and visit people - leave a comment now and again too everyone loves to get encouragement.
Linking us up today with Style Sessions, The Pleated Poppy and Transatlantic Blonde.

Love to hear your thoughts below on the midi skirt. How do you think we should wear it to avoid looking dated or like our Grandma's?
