Meet the Sponsors: August Edition!

www.knittedbliss.com

How can it be August already?! Summer is wrapping up, and I think a lot of us are already thinking about our fall knitting. So what better time to try something new, right? I hope you’ll check out some of the gorgeous new products on offer from the Knitted Bliss sponsors this month, each of them has far more than I could ever hope to profile below!

Name: Bijou Basin Ranch

What They Are All About: If you haven’t tried yak fiber before, you are missing out- it’s very soft, and very good for those that have wool allergies. Eileen and Carl run their Yak ranch in Colorado, selling amazing yak fiber and yarns that are both 100% yak and blended with other fibers (like bamboo or merino) to give the yarn strength and variety. Plus they have a coupon code for free shipping when you sign up for their newsletter! Can’t beat free shipping. And if you are attending the Michigan Fiber Festival this weekend, they’ll be there! You should totally check them out.

A Few of My Favourite Things, from Left to Right: Tibetan Dream is a fantastic 440 yards of luxury sock yarn with 85% Yak fiber spun with 15% nylon for added strength. This fun ‘Burple’ colourway is a custom creation by Miss Babs! And for the ultimate in softness, this is Xanadu, a 100% cashmere light fingering yarn, in quite possibly the perfect shade of teal. And then there is Lhasa Wilderness of a Yak (75%) and bamboo (25%) blend, which in the Culloden colourway would be perfect for fall projects.

Name: Sweet Sheep Body Shoppe

What She is All About: Alicia makes luxurious all-natural lotion bars and lip balms using skin-loving ingredients like lanolin, cocoa butter, almond oil, and vitamin E and mango butter. If you haven’t tried a lotion bar before you are missing out! Everything is non-greasy, and the lip balms are my favourite on the planet.

A Few of My Favourite Things, from Left to Right: Sweet Sheep Lip Balm in ‘Lavender‘ is a classic and relaxing scent, perfect for everyday use. These Blackberry and Sage lotion bars smell wonderfully bright and fruity, with a bit of sage to add some depth. And for the sheep soap, you can custom order your sheep bar in any scent you’d like! I got mine recently in ginger patchouli, and it smells AMAZING.

Name: Knit Circus

What She is All About: Dyed-to-order gradients are her specialty, there is a whole range of colours, weights, and yarn bases to choose from. If you’ve been eyeing some lovely knits featuring gradients, you should check this out.

A Few of my Favourite Things, from Left to Right: I’m completely smitten with the Hummingbird Colourway of the gradient stripes sock set, they look like the perfect pair of socks. This amazing gradient dyed-to-order skein in ‘Maybelene’ is utterly hypnotizing- and you can choose whichever base you would most like. And do you love the Big Theory as much as I do? Then I think you’d love to check out the Knit Circus Big Bang Collection– this awesome skein is called ‘Bazinga!’.

Name: Yarn in the City

What They Are All About: Rachel and Allison are North American expats living in London and have created Yarn in the City, which plans and creates yarn-themed crafty get togethers and events all around London, UK. Coming up are the Great London Yarn Crawl, Pop Up Marketplaces, with workshops with awesome designers from around the globe. And don’t think that this is just for people living in the UK because they are also super tourist friendly! Later this year they will be launching a Crafty Guide to London, featuring great routes and info on all the best knitting and craft supply stores in the city, and include patterns and tips for knitting and crafting while on vacation.

A Few of My Favourite Things, from Left to Right: The Yarn in the City blog is full of amazing vendor profiles for their upcoming popup marketplace on September 5th that feature all sorts of yummy yarn and lots of great shops that make me want to pack a suitcase and get on over there- classic example is their profile on Max’s World, which features jewelry that is just right for knitters. I totally want that gold Knitter necklace! Or their profile on Ginger Twist Studio, quite possibly the prettiest yarn shop I’ve seen in a while. This is all going to be part of their annual Great London Yarn Crawl, a non-profit yarn tour of the several London knitting shops with all funds going to charity. You can sign on to join a team and travel a route of London via public transit with your new knitting crew! Knitting tourism at it’s finest!

Name: Madbird Bags & Accessories

What They are all about: Alecia and Rob Miller make fun and functional project bags, project clutches, totes, spindle bags, needle and hook rolls (even for dpns and interchangeables), and zip pouches- with a wide variety of fabrics, you’re sure to find the right size you need in a print you love. Project bags come with interior yarn guides that have a snap on them, so your yarn feeds through cleanly, but you can change out the yarn or project any time you like. And they are all sturdily built, with fleece interfacing and solid bottoms that ensure the bags stand up well on their own, once a project is inside.

A Few of My Favourite Things, from Left to Right: The caffeine addict in me is super in love with this coffee print large project bag, which has a yarn guide you don’t even need to keep the bag open once you’ve got your yarn fed through. And for you dog lovers out there, how fun is this adorable puppies in the park print on a drawstring project bag? The bag is totally reversible, too- so if you get bored of one print, you can turn it inside out for a bit! This larger project tote features a fun 80’s vibe with a mixed tape print and magnetic snap closure, and will help corral your larger knits-in-progress on the go.

Those are the inspiring offerings from this month’s sponsors! I hope you’ll take a few minutes to click on over and check them out- let me know what you are most loving right now!
