When your floors quit on you, you can always count on your walls!

Here's 10 DIY Shelves that you can make to add form and function to your walls!

Awesome Idea #1

Crown Moulding Ledges

I love these shelves that Jaime from That's My Letter built and shared a detailed tutorial for here - but most of all, I love how Jaime used a hidden 2x4 cleat to hang these guys! So all you do is find the spot you want to hang the shelf, attach the 2x4 cleat, and then slide the shelf over top! Brilliant, I do say! Check these shelves out!

Awesome Idea #2

Crate Shelves

A while back I did these guys for HGTV - I made simple wood boxes (can be any size and certainly a deeper board for a wider width shelf) out of 1x4s and then wood lath pieces as the backs. Then I just hung them on the bathroom wall in random placement to create a wall shelf that is both unique and functional! Check out the tutorial here.

Awesome Idea #3

Bathroom Shelving

Handmade by Danielle updated her bathroom with lots of DIY shelving! You'll love the mix of white shelves and this rustic towel rack shelf!

Awesome Idea #4

Collector Shelves

I love these simple and cheap to make shelves that will do anything from store books on a top bunk to just display favorite books facing forward! Check out the full tutorial (in two sizes!) here. And also, check out Amber from German Jello Salad's collector shelves!

Awesome Idea #5

Reclaimed Wood Floating Shelf Drawers

Wouldn't it be nice if your shelves not only held stuff, but they hid stuff too? My friend Stacy from Not Just a Housewife built these amazing reclaimed wood pallet shelves that are actually drawers!!! Check out lots more photos and Stacy's tutorial here.

Awesome Idea #6

Hanging Bathroom Shelves

I adore these hanging bathroom shelves that the ladies over at Shanty2Chic just shared earlier this month!!! And the best part is they only spent $10 on it!!! I love how the rope and hook not only makes the shelf eaiser to hang, but it adds interest to an otherwise super simple shelf. Check out the tutorial here.

Awesome Idea #7

Letter Shelves

I love adding letters to kids rooms! Why not make those letters also store stuff? I teamed up with my friend Beth from Home Stories A to Z to get you plans for the A letter, Z letter, but you can also make your own - check out this H letter!

Awesome Idea #8

The Original Pallet Shelf

If you've got a pallet, five minutes, a 2x4 or 1x4 scrap board and a hammer and nails, you can make this shelf. It's just a portion of a pallet cut off, the 2x4 or 1x4 board placed in the bottom to hold the shelf contents ... and that's it!

Check out the full tutorial here.

Awesome Idea #9

Chalkboard Cubby Shelf with Hooks

Perfect for corraling up all thos back packs and hats and it has a chalkboard too!

Built from my plans here, this project was CB_AtTheBeach's very first project ever! Check it out!

Awesome Idea #10

$10 Ledges

If you are new to building, these are a great first project and most any room of any home could use them! I love how Kara built an entire wall of $10 ledges for her nursery! And at just $10 in boards for a 8 foot long ledge - this is a super affordable shelving option!
