Art Deco in Atlanta

I have always had a love and appreciation for historic homes, especially when they are architecturally significant. It has been so refreshing to move from the suburbs into the heart of Houston. Our charming, new neighborhood was established in 1924, so we are surrounded by both beautiful old homes as well as tastefully-done new ones. While Houston has many historic homes as well as quite a few public art deco style buildings, an art deco-style house is a rare sighting here. As a result, I was so drawn to this beautiful art deco revival house featured in the current Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. Built in 1934, the Evans-Cucich house is named after its former owners and was restored to its full potential by its current owners, Parker and McKenzie Blanchard. The Blanchards enlisted the help of architect, Ryan Duffey and his wife, interior designer, Nancy Duffey to bring the house out of disrepair, restore it in a way that honors the extraordinary, original architecture, and design spaces that made sense for a modern family. The result is simply stunning. I am obsessed with the facade and love the crisp, neutral interior, punctuated by the striking steel doors and windows. The landscape design by Carson McElheney completes the elegant composition. What is your favorite element of this beautiful home?
