Fabulous Room Friday 04.24.15 + Some Fun News!

I have a particular affinity for mixing very classic silhouettes with modern, unexpected touches. In my opinion, this combination almost always yields striking, yet tasteful spaces. Case in point, this glamorous master bedroom by Kirsten Kelli. The luxurious space is filled with chic details and sumptuous fabrics. The stage is set by soaring ceilings and high-gloss, chocolate lacquered walls. You’ll notice there are several Louis XVI-style pieces including the gilt canopy bed, bench at the end of the bed, and a pair of armchairs upholstered in leopard velvet. The other furniture silhouettes are also quite classic– rolled arm and skirted chairs and sofa, a Chippendale-style coffee table, and a tufted yellow chair. The modern element comes from the fabric choices and execution– bold trims, geometric patterns, touches of bright yellow in an otherwise neutral room, and in the photo below, you’ll even notice different linens on the bed embroidered in neon yellow. I prefer the version in the photo above, but appreciate the moxie it takes to do that! I love that this room daring and filled with personality, yet it exudes effortless elegance.
