Want to get the fresh, dewy look that models at Dior’s Spring/Summer 2015 Haute Couture show sported? Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Make-Up, explains how to get it down to a tee.

He used pure, luminous make-up that provides a soft match to the psychedelic inspiration of the collection created by Raf Simons.“I wanted to create make-up that gives a sense of fluidity, clarity and appeasement. Like a calm moment, a pause in the midst of a collection that displays an inspirational mix, rich with colours and materials,” Philips explained.

MAKE-UP

Eyes

Philips highlights “the clarity of a face made up lightly, in a spirit of harmony and purity.”

“The eyes are subtly shaded with the new Eye Reviver Backstage Pros palette (April 2015). The eye shadow gradients let you work the upper eyelid with nude shades that blend into the complexion. I chose to do an airy twist on a cut crease. The shape is neither too sharp nor too rounded. The line rises from the inner corner of the eye then flares out gently towards the temple to open up the eyes.”

“The lashes are simply curled with Backstage Lash Curler and the eyebrows are also gently highlighted,” Peter Philips adds.

Complexion

Worked with the Nude Air line, “the complexion is all about make-up that is light and transparent,” Peter Philips explains. “The cheekbones are highlighted in two steps: first illuminated with Starlight Diorblush, then the Peach Splendor colour is applied to the apples of the cheeks.”

Lips

“Lips are transparent and shiny thanks to Dior Lip Maximiser, which gives the mouth volume. A very natural, plumped-up effect.”

Nails

“Hands stay discreet with Dior Vernis Muguet, a soft pink.”

HAIR

Hair by Guido Palau draws inspiration from the 60s, very sophisticated and accessorised. The hair is pulled back, smooth and flat from the brow then puffed up and lacquered on the top of the head. Two metallic or bright-colour lacquered metal rings hold together the two parts of a low pony tail.
