Guerlain Lingerie De Peau #3: Photos, Swatches and Thoughts

This winter has been really tough on my skin. We've moved from a hot, dry Texas climate, to a humid and very cold climate in Missouri. My skin has gone from slightly oily to extremely dry. This has never happend to me before. I've even had to change my skincare routine because I was crawling out of my dry skin. Needless to say, my current favorites Tarte Amazonian Clay and Lancome Teint Idole Ultra were not cutting it, they just made my skin look worse. I had to find a new foundation that would make me look, well, not so dry and matte. I remembered receiving a sample of Lingerie De Peau last summer and loving it but thinking it might not work for my slightly oily skin. Well now that my skin was dry I thought, why not give it a shot? I ordered shade 3 from my favorite Guerlain SA, Julie Ann, at Neiman Marcus, Fort Worth.

Here is what the Neiman Marcus website say's about the product:
Guerlain fulfills the dream of the perfect foundation, so fusional that it can't be felt or seen. It melts with the skin as a second, imperceptible wrapping to sublimate the complexion with no artifice—the most intimate lingerie dedicated to the skin.

As soon as I got and tried it I absolutely fell in love with it. This foundation is exactly what I want. It feels moisturizing without looking dewy, it's just natural. Also, in my opinion, it doesn't leave you looking flat like a lot of matte foundations seem to do. At my age I don't mind looking luminous (I prefer it now). Shade 3 is Beige Natural and I would consider it a shade for medium skin tones. It does not lean yellow or pink but is more of a true neutral which is what I love about it. It's always hard for me to find a foundation because I don't think I have yellow or pink undertones; I really do think I'm more neutral. I tend to be a light/med but I can pull this color off because I run outdoors and darken easily, even while wearing sunscreen. For comparison I wear shade Medium in Tarte Amazonian Clay, B20 in Vitalumiere Aqua (a lighter shade than I normally wear, but it works for me) and finally shade 4 in UD's Naked Skin Foundation. This foundation has a strong floral scent that fades shortly after applied. It's not a thick formula and it feels silky going on. This foundation looks great no matter how you apply it (I've used a brush and finger tips). On days when I don't need so much coverage I dampen my brush a tiny bit for a more luminous application. This foundation is a light to medium coverage depending on your skin. Even though I have skin issues this winter (as you can see in the picture below), I don't like to look like I'm wearing a lot of foundation. I prefer the "no makeup" makeup look. I also care more about looking even toned than flawless. It's going to be hard to find something that suits me better right now.

The photo above was taken indoors.
This photo was taken in sunlight.
As you can see on the picture on the left I have some redness and dry patches. The picture on the right shows how it evens my skin tone without looking overly made up.
xoxo, Adriana
