Casual wear on the blog today! A while ago I mentioned to Sheba as she was snippin' my hairz that I was thinking of wearing jeans again, and before I could even finish my sentence, she said something to the effect of "Oh honey. You simply must try Wood Wood's high waisted jeans!" And Sheba's recommendations are always spot-on. So I stalked eBay for a while until this handsome denim popped up, and the rest, they say, is history. I feel sexy in these jeans. I hold my head just a tiny bit higher, walk just a tad taller, and tuck in my tees with reckless abandon. This is a most unusual feeling for me! I mean, when I am wearing a shapeless maxi dress I do feel especially confident, but with these jeans, the knowledge that my fabulous ass is on full display makes me remember that I have a sexuality, and that is okay to flaunt it on my terms.

and as you can see here, that is kind of of where this outfit is going. If you are a person who is interested in wearing clothes that express yourself, there is often a wide disparity between the utmost pinnacle of your inspiration, and the sort of things that you wear on an everyday basis. It is simply not feasible for me to wear sweeping Edwardian gowns everyday, so I temper my idealist style with my more practical needs. Band tees have become a particularly indispensable part of my casual wardrobe. Not that they weren't before! But lately when I get dressed, the absolute first thing I reach for is the nearest clean t-shirt and build my outfit around it.

I am a undying believer in licensed band merch, because that's how bands earn money, so I was not going to let a chance to own a Cure t-shirt pass me by! Even though I didn't see them at Lollapalooza in August, I had a friend pick up this tee for me from Lolla's merch booth. Ohhh yes, a wise decision! Worn with my rose quartz necklace from Spellbound Sky in LA. Rose quartz symbolizes self-acceptance so it is a pleasant daily reminder to ~~love myself for who I am~~
