Whether you are a backpacker or rich and famous, you’ll find suitable hotels in London at reduced prices, so you can spend as much time in London as you want.

Luxury for All

London has some of the most luxurious hotels in the world that may seem out of reach for most people. However, they also offer reduce rates at certain times of the year, and last-minute bookings often get great discounts. September through November is the best time to find the biggest reduction in room prices at the top hotels. In January and February, all hotels lower their rates, but December is considered high season due to Christmas travelers. March through May is also high season when the famous English gardens are in bloom.

Certain neighborhoods of London are easy to explore on foot and have budget hotels and hostels. Holborn and Bloomsbury are on London’s Museum Mile and near the pleasure-seekers in SoHo. The East End is also budget friendly and home to Charles Dickens and Jack the Ripper. There are several cutting-edge art galleries in the area and boutique hotels that offer cheap rates. The South Bank with the London Eye Ferris Wheel and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre also has cheap accommodation.

London is not a city that you can explore in a day. Some attractions such as London National Gallery in Trafalgar Square requires at least a half a day to see the priceless treasures from all over the world. The British Museum holds examples of antiquities from every era, and admission to these wonders is free. Other places on everyone’s list of things to see in London are Buckingham Palace and the changing of the guards, the Tower of London and the crown jewels and Westminster Abbey with its amazing collection of memorials to the greats of England in every field.

If you plan to visit London to attend a sporting event, your best bet to reduce your expenses is to book a budget hotel near a Tube station. This will give you easy access to all the main sporting venues.

London Hostels

No one does hostels like London. The hip and trendy can live on a small budget near some of the most expensive neighborhoods such as Mayfair and Hyde Park. One of the largest hostels in the world is near Leicester Square and claims to be the liveliest and funkiest hostel in London with female and mixed dorms. You’ll find an in-house coffee shop and bar as well as a free walking tour of the city in most London hostels.
