Sticking to the Dress Code for your School Prom

Your prom night is a big night in your life, so to make sure that you can enjoy it fully you will need to adhere to your schools dress code for the event.

Your prom is an occasion in your life that you are always going to remember, either because of good things or bad things, but the memories will stick with you forever. So you want to make sure that you are going to enjoy your prom, and that nothing affects your ability to do so. What if you bought a beautiful prom dress and turned up at your prom, only for the chaperone to say that your dress does not fit the dress code, so you are not allowed to go inside? If this happened to you, it could be devastating and leave you unable to enjoy your senior prom with your classmates. Because of this you should make sure that you choose a prom dress that meets the criteria set in your schools’ dress code.

Lots of Different Rules

Schools all over the country have a dress code in place for special functions and dances that also include the school prom. You’ll find that these rules can drastically vary from school to school. If you are not already aware of your school dress code, then you will need to speak to one of your teachers so that you can have the guidelines confirmed. When you know what the dress code is, you can then choose an appropriate prom dress that is within the regulations. It is also worth noting that most of the rules that are stipulated and directed towards girls, with the rules for boys seeming to be a lot more lax. Most schools will ask for the female students to wear dresses that are not too revealing and show off a lot of skin. There are even schools that will implement stringent guidelines on the length of the dresses, and even the amount of cleavage that you can show off. As unfair and sexist it maybe, not to mention draconian, if you want to enjoy your school prom you need to adhere to the guidelines that are set. If you are looking at 2016 prom dresses, then you may wish to choose a slightly conservative style of prom dress, just in case they change the dress code!

Being Conservative, and Still Looking Good!

There have been cases where schools have changed their dress code a week or more before the prom. The students can then be left with very little time to change their prom dresses if they need to, let alone pay the additional cost. Depending on how conservative your school is, you may wish to choose a style of prom dress which is well within the boundaries that are set. Make sure that the length is not too short, and that you do not show off too much cleavage, or too much open skin on your back. By choosing something not as risqué, you can find the perfect prom dress that you will look a million dollars in. You also have the added benefit of having plenty of time to find that perfect dress for your 2016 prom if you start looking now! Choose a suitable prom dress and enjoy some of the best times of your life with your friends, this is a time in your life that you will look back on for many years to come. So make sure you look back on it for all of the right reasons!
