Photos That Never Made The Blog (Photo Dump #2)

Oh, hey friends. Good afternoon!

If you are reading this, that means we have gotten past whatever server issues have been going on around here over the last week or so. From what I understand, the site was down for over 12 hours last night, and I was told to expect another 24-48 wait until it’s back up when I got off of the phone with tech support this morning.

I guess it just takes a public complaint to get things fixed, because the minute I posted this photo on Instagram, we were live again. Funny. But, I’m still having issues accessing the archives, so I apologize if you are too. I’m working on it!

Since I’m not currently in the mindset to produce anything content-worthy, I am going to take this opportunity to share some of the photos that have been sitting on the computer desktop for no reason at all.

As a blogger, I take an obnoxious amount of photos of the strangest things. Since these photos (along with tons of others still saved from my iPhone) never made the blog, I thought it would be fun to take a peek into what I save and dump them all into one post.

I shared my first “Photo Dump” a couple of months ago and I think it’s interesting to look back at them. Enjoy the epitome of random pictures and stories, Round 2!

Photo Dump #2

Scott and I took this photo when we were driving home from Arkansas and spontaneously decided to stop into Chicago for six hours before heading home to Detroit. We sent it in a text to our friend Barry to let him know we were coming. That’s what the “C” was for. Obviously.

We didn’t get much sleep, and Scott ended up leaving his wallet and wedding ring behind. Two days later, we got them back in this festive party package. I thought it was a fun and clever way to package something small and important.

That was after Scott played Rambo at his dad’s house and I got over my fear of guns.

Here’s another gem from that trip that never made it onto the blog. I wonder why.

(I just kept saying “I don’t know what to do with my hands!” Haha.)

And, of course, how could I forget this one of me chilling with Mr. Bass Pro Shops Bear right before we stopped into the headquarters. He got me.

Here’s what I’ve been turning to any time I have a craving for Chinese and don’t want to move very far. Gosh, I love Amy’s.

While my mom was in town visiting, we kicked off our Day in Downtown Detroit with a coffee date at Great Lakes Coffee. I ordered some kind of chai tea latte, and she tried the lavender latte. She wasn’t a huge fan, but I loved the flavor and presentation (on the right).

Hey mom!

Some other semi-related thoughts on coffee…

Target just wouldn’t be Target without a stop into the connected Starbucks store first.

I almost forgot how good the vanilla bean frappuccino is. I haven’t gotten one in years until a couple of weeks ago. Fraps are packed with calories, so I like to order the tall size and save them as a treat when I’m not wanting the caffeine.

Delicious.

I’ve also been digging tea lately, especially in the afternoons and before bed. While my mom was in town, she introduced me to a cool app that sets how long you should steep your tea bags, depending on how strong you want your tea.

I can’t locate the exact app she used, but there are tons to choose from! Simply type “tea timer” into the search bar of the App Store to find one.

We love taking out-of-town visitors through Downtown Detroit. If it’s at night, we’ll stay in the car and drive by the big statues and things to see. We think Comerica Park is awesome and need to get to another Tiger’s game soon!

Scott got the itch to make a Whole Foods Market recipe from a newspaper clipping last week.

Buffalo Cauliflower Bites

Ingredients

1 head cauliflowers, broken into small florets

1/4 cup cider vinegar

1/4 cup sweet paprika

1 Tbsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. smoked paprika

1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper, or to taste

1/8 tsp. fine sea salt

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees or prepare a grill for medium-heat cooking. Roast cauliflower on a parchment-paper lined baking sheet or place it on a grill rack and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and tender, 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, whisk vinegar, sweet paprika, cayenne, salt and 3 Tbsp. water together in a large bowl. Taste the sauce. If you like it hotter (we did!), add a bit more cayenne.

3. Toss the cauliflower in the sauce until well coated and transfer to a platter.

Enjoy!

And then there’s that time Scott and I risked our lives to climb pyramid point. I asked for a “normal” celebratory photo at the top and this is what I got.

This is also what happens when I ask Scott to take photos for me. He says something ridiculous and it’s impossible to smile without laughing.

Someone else who always makes me laugh is this nut…

He loves going for car rides, but has to be touching one of us at all times.

If not, he gets anxious and makes funny faces.

And cute faces.

RAWR!

He got you.

He gets me too sometimes.

I’ll finish things off with a this scene from one of our recent neighborhood runs.

Michigan sure can be pretty!
