Thinking Out Loud #13

The Rock Your Legs! segment of this post is sponsored by Schick. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% mine. Thank you so much for your support on this and all sponsored content that appears on this blog.

Happy Thursday! I hope it has been a good one for you so far.

Today I wanted to revisit a little series we like to call Thinking Out Loud. Here, I share whatever is going through my head without much rhyme or reason beyond bullet points.

TOL posts seem to go over well here, so I continue to write them. It’s nice to see that y’all enjoy reading unstructured thoughts and musings from time to time, because I find an odd delight in sharing them, too!

• Seeing that you guys have been enjoying my audition prep tips makes me smile

I kicked off a new series all about prepping for professional sports dance or cheer team audition yesterday. Some of you have emailed me sharing you are auditioning within the next few weeks, so I’ll do my best to continue on with the next few posts in a timely matter. I’m so excited for you and the decision to embark on this incredible journey!

I will jump at the chance to reminisce about my days as a dancer whenever I can, so thank you for your comments and interest in reading these types of posts! <3

• are you a fan of Tabata training?

The basic formula for Tabatas is 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated between 4-8 times (a total of 2-4 minutes). I love throwing these bouts of cardio in at the end of my strength training sessions, most likely in the form of Kettlebell Swings or Muscle Rope Waves when I’m at the gym.

Don’t worry if you don’t have access to equipment like this. You can complete Tabatas with just your bodyweight, too!

Check out my original Tabata workouts featured on the blog for ideas:

» 25 Min. Cardio Core Tabata Workout

Also, let me know if you dig these type of workouts. I’d love to share more!

• it rained, then hailed out of nowhere yesterday

The weather in Michigan has reminded me of Florida lately! It rains (hard) out of the blue in the afternoons, then stops after 10-15 minutes or so.

Scratch raining. It’s been storming… and even hailing! With temperatures in the 50s-80s, I guess I’ll take it over breaking out the winter coats again.

Any crazy weather stories in your neck of the woods?

And yes, the screen from our master bedroom is still on the deck. Thanks, Aspen.

• I can’t seem get enough sleep lately

I’ve gone to bed at an earlier hour the last two nights with the intentions of rising earlier, but my plan totally backfired. Instead, my body took that as a sign to get as much sleep as possible, and I wake up after 9 hours. The weirdest part of it all is that I’m dead tired by 9 p.m., too. What… the… heck.

I think I need to get back to my normal 7 hour nights to feel back on my game.

• what’s with the neon?

More than ever, I’ve been sporting neon colors in my workout apparel. Last night I noticed that I’m not the only one, either.

Those shorts! I’ve got a brave husband, I know. We just keep upping the entertainment level for our neighbors, I’m sure. You’re welcome, evening walkers.

• are you a sprinter?

Speaking of our run last night, I have been training with the Mountain Athletics App over the last couple of weeks and convinced Scott to join my speed and power workout last night!

We set off for a series of quarter mile sprints followed by 90 seconds of rest for ten rounds. That totals about 3 miles, once you factor in walking. I felt great for the first few, but holy geez, I’m not used to sprinting at all! Not even a little bit.

(Recycled photo, but it describes my face perfectly)

My legs felt like jello after the half way mark, and I took that as a mental welcome into my thirties. It’s crazy that I can run a half marathon, but want to quit during a quarter mile sprint. I guess I’ve just never been a fan of sprinting. I think I’ll always prefer running longer distances at my own pace. What about you?

• I’ve totally been rocking my legs, thanks to Schick & Skintimate

Earlier this month, I was sent a winning combo of razors to test out, and I have to admit that this was the first time in a long time that I used the proper shaving tools.

Smooth and confident, (with a little help from the sunshine, too) I’ve been down to wear shorts and skirts any day the weather allows. It’s been a nice transition out of leggings!

Schick® is an official sponsor of Universal Pictures’ Pitch Perfect 2, which debuted in theaters May 15th. To celebrate the different steps a woman takes each day to create a confident style as unique as the legs she stands on, they’ve teamed up to create this fun music video you can now see on display in retailers like Meijer.

I finally went to see the movie over the weekend, and I was laughing the entire time!

I got excited at the very beginning when I saw a familiar package and Schick shout out. I’m pretty sure I even whispered, “Hey, Rock Your Legs with Schick!” to Scott with an enthusiastic point to the screen. The Barden Bellas are an entertaining, sassy group, aren’t they?

This limited edition Pitch Perfect 2 packaging is now available in stores nationwide for Schick Hydro Silk Razors, Skintimate Shave Gel, Schick Intuition®, Schick Quattro For Women® and Schick Xtreme3®.

Visit Rock Your Legs! for more information and a chance to win a free movie ticket!
