The Hunt for the elusive NARS Audacious Lipstick Brigitte

Over the last month or so, I’ve been on a hunt. A hunt for a lipstick. Go figure. The lipstick in question is a NARS Audacious lipstick called Brigitte, a nude rose.

A while back, I tried on Brigitte and loved it. But I was feeling like all responsible (I had already purchased two other Audacious lipsticks after all) and decided I didn’t need it. So I put it down.

Big mistake. Big. (I hear Julia Roberts when I write this.) You see, since then, Brigitte has been sold out — online at Sephora, at my local Sephora store and at Holts for weeks.

Gah! What’s a lipstick hoarder to do?

I was a woman on a mission. Must. Own. Lipstick.(Yes, yes, I know there are more important things and life.)

Each week, I visited Sephora and Holts, asking if Brigitte was in stock and looking longingly at the empty slot where the Brigitte boxes should be. At one point during the Sephora VIB sale, I almost felt like tackling a woman and a sales associate who were blocking my view of the Audacious display. Alas, there was no Brigitte to be found and no tackling to be done.

I didn’t have much luck on Sephora’s web site either. For weeks, there was an “X” over Brigitte indicating that it was sold out. I logged on daily from my laptop and my phone, hoping against all hope that the status would change.

Finally, I signed up to receive an email which would let me know when it would be in stock. This was my last hope. I was almost ready to give up. It just wasn’t lipstick fate.

But today my friends is a good day. I got the email of all emails. Brigitte is in stock (cue the makeup angels singing!).

I added Brigitte to my shopping basket, and oops, somehow the NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret set snuck its way in too (tee hee!) – the thrill of victory is mine!
