Project Make A Dent – LipstickRules-style

As a makeup hoarder collector, I often forget about what I have sitting in my makeup drawers. Yep, I do. I find myself getting caught up by the latest and greatest, and forget about amazing things sitting in my collection. This year, I’ve vowed to make a change, and I’m doing this via Project Make a Dent. Two of my favourite bloggers, Lily and Kristen, have been doing Project Make a Dent over the months, and inspired me to do the same. I’ve put my own spin on it, however, and thought I’d share it with you.

Project Make a Dent is basically all about picking some products from your collection and using them as much as possible. The goal is to well, make a dent, and ‘hit pan’ – the magical moment when you get to the bottom of a makeup product and see that silver pan.

Here’s how I’m doing it. At the beginning of each week, I select some key products and only use those products for the week. I’ve been doing it since the beginning of January and so far so good! Through this process I’ve been able to rediscover old favourites and also form opinions about products I totally forgot I had. Products that I am no longer jazzed about are going into a friends/family pile. It’s been such a gratifying process. I hope that by the end of this, I will have a more manageable collection and one that contains products I truly love.

Kristen and I have added an extra incentive for each other when it comes to NARS Deep Throat. We decided that whoever hits pan on Deep Throat first would buy the other a new NARS blush. Game on!
