i do it for the love

As I am writing this blog post, I find myself in a certain kind of mood which means it's time to get personal up in this bitch! This past weekend I spent a lot of time with friends which was all kinds of fun. I've had the same core group of girlfriends since, well, forever. Literally ranging from pigtail wearing preschoolers, to brace-faced high school freshmen, to "trying to figure out life" college students. Even now I still am lucky enough to be meeting some rad chickadees. The reason for my "mood" is probably caused by my reflection of how amazing life is when you have a solid foundation of people around you. It keeps me so sane. I've had some bad apples in my life and getting rid of the negativity and to be frank, bullshit, is something I am proud I've done and will continue to do. I am very protective of who I allow into my life. I have no time or patience for people who aren't honest or genuine. AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT. I kind of think my super power is the ability to karate chop out the crazy. With that said, I am also very aware that as you get older the less likely and easy it is to make genuine friendships. Hang on to the ones you love and don't take it for granted dammit! When you're married with kids and so busy changing diapers and organizing carpools you can't even see straight, you'll be thankful to have those people around. Cause I know this mama is going to still need her wine nights. It's so easy to get caught up in your life that you don't take enough time to nurture your friendships. Definitely something I am sometimes guilty of. So here's to bad ass ride or die friends and saying BYE FELICIA to the rest.
