Chocolate Mousse

Desserts are not an easy matter. I find making desserts that most people will like quite challenging. It shouldn’t be too sweet, but still have a nice and intensive flavour.

This chocolate mousse has become my number one choice of dessert. It’s thrown together super quickly, only needs a handful of ingredients and people love it!

When all bowls are scraped empty I let my friends guess what the mousse is made of. They will get bananas, cacao powder and maybe dates, but never the secret ingredient – avocado! In combination with banana the avocado gives the mousse a super smooth consistency, adds healthy fats and compensates sweet and savoury flavour. If you have never tried using avocado in a dessert I almost urge you to try it!

Chocolate Mousse
(makes 4-6 portions)

2 avocados
4 bananas
6 tbsp raw cacao powder
8 dates (about 60g)
6 tbsp nut butter (almond- or haselnutbutter)
4 tbsp plant milk
1 pinch of sea salt
fresh or thawed berries (topping)

1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor or blender (both of which should be relatively high-speed), until the mousse is of a smooth consistency.
2. Pour the mousse in small glasses or bowls and serve with fresh or thawed berries.
