Checking in

Hi there, remember me? The worst.blogger.ever. I can come up with a gazillion excuses as to why I haven’t been blogging lately but it all boils down to the fact that I was getting burned out. Plus, I wasn’t really sure what to talk about following our Whole30.

I’m so excited that it’s October! This is definitely my favorite month. We’re finally starting to experience some cooler temps here in Florida and October is a sports fans dream come true.

  • Hockey just started.
  • Baseball playoffs are just starting.
  • NFL and college football is in full swing.
  • NASCAR chase for the Sprint Cup.

If you’re not a sports fan, you’re probably ready for some of that to end. :)

I’ve been working out with my trainer 3 days a week for 3 1/2 months now. To say I enjoy it, would be a huge understatement. I absolutely love it and am constantly amazed at what I’m able to accomplish. Kim took some pictures of me during my workout the other day.

This was my first attempt at a pull up. Not quite there yet but I love that I’m starting to see some definition in my back and arms!

All of my hard work is starting to pay off. Here’s another one that shows some definition in my shoulders.

Please ignore the ridiculous look on my face.

I look forward to all of my workouts but leg day (Friday’s) continues to blow my mind. There’s something very empowering about working out with the barbell. As of now my squat PR is 185# and my deadlift PR is 210#. Pretty happy with that after just 3 1/2 months.

Dane has also been working out with the same trainer for about 2 months now. He’s making really good progress and continues to impress our trainer every week. We’re both loving lifting heavy and becoming stronger!

I just recently started making smoothies/shakes with protein powder to get some more protein in my diet. It’s nice to whip it up in the blender and have it on my commute to work.

I made this one with: 2 scoops chocolate protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, frozen mixed berries, 1 tbsp PB2 and ice. So good!

Dane is back to playing softball, so we he hasn’t been cooking as much. When I got home from the gym last night, I was starving and this dinner did not disappoint.

Meatloaf, mashed sweet potato and roasted peppers.

Dane saw this deer near our house on his run the other day.

I hit a deer (with my car) not too far from here a couple of weeks ago (it got up and ran away). Now I go the long way around to the interstate to avoid this area because I’m paranoid that it’s going to happen again.

My kitties are still cute as ever and are providing endless entertainment.

Teagan is all about my protein shake every morning.

Wrigley loves boxes. As soon as one is opened up and the contents are removed, he jumps right in.

Besides that, my ankle is finally getting better. I stopped wearing the brace and have started using it more and more during my workouts. There is still a little bit of swelling but the pain is much less.

What is your favorite month?

Do you lift weights?
