.Land and Sea.

Some time last year, when Don and I realized our move to the coast of Massachusetts was definite, a friend told me her husband is an Ocean person and she loves Lakes most. In typical indecisive fashion, at the time, I said I couldn't choose. I love it all.

What happened next? I moved to a little harbor town carved by winding streets. Crooked houses lean closely together to keep sheltered from those sea winds. Gulls scream from lamp posts and Lobster Shacks stand as old codgers, weathered from the storm.

I cast my line and found what I always knew deep down to be true. I'm called by the sea. It reaches to me with arms searching over rocky shores...retreating and searching, retreating, returning. I'm not talking about bikini, pretzels, beer ocean. I'm talking that Ocean/Land combo where you'd settle in with a long dress, a blanket and a volume of Thoreau. Where sheep roam eating grass, the breeze takes your scarf over rocky cliffs and an unexpected rain storm would only add to the romantic experience. Ha, yes, I've thought about this a great deal.

This will be a big theme here on this ol' blog. Do you live in a place like what I've described? New England? Nova Scotia? English Coast? Wales? Irish coast? Tell me!
