HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW: #DIGIN SUNDAY EDITION, BUT ON MONDAY

There are two stores here in Maui that get Sean all sorts of tickled. Just tickled. They are, in no particular order, the Safeway in Kihei with it's little Fred Flinstone of a car affixed to the front of the shopping cart, and The Home Depot in Kahului where the whole entire cart is disguised in a fine specimen of a race car.
The race car... it's his favorite. In Sean's world the clever contraption is just the most awesome of silly ploys by grown men to drive little boys through big hardware stores at unsafe speeds while humming "vroom vroom vroom", taking corners with a screeching "eeeer" sort of a commitment. It's a little boy's dream, you know? Every. Time.

So that one Saturday when The Home Depot sent us on a little shopping trip to get us started on our spring organic gardening adventures, well there were none of the usual "do we have to go shopping" complaints.
Sean spotted his car of a cart as soon as we turned into the parking lot. There in all its dull plastic shine of glory it was. Ready...
A pleading tug at the edge of his big tall daddy's shirt accompanied by an awkward flailing of arms in that "pick me up, pick me up" sort of way that three year old little boys employ, when all they want in the world is just out of their reach, and suddenly Sean is buckled into that beast of a contraption. Set...
And somewhere between the corral of carts on the parking lots edge and those large double doors Sean and his daddy come to an unspoken agreement that one will be the engine and one the driver, and that both will lean hard into the corners, together, as they take them, and that a clear aisle, well, a clear aisle is a straight away made for speed. Go...

We turned up and down every aisle, I'm pretty sure we didn't miss a one, in that little stinker of a race car cart. And you know, every apron donning associate met our amble with an offer to help us find what we were looking for. Every. Single. One. And when we finally made our way to the garden center and had "real" questions about the organic plants there and the local farms they are sourced from, we were met with knowledge patiently served as our little race car idled for just a bit taking a much needed break.

After some preliminary window shopping online at The Home Depot's website, here, and with the helpful associates we worked with in store we walked back out those double doors weighed down with a variety of vegetables and herbs, the organic soil we needed to plant them in and the confidence that we could plant a garden of edibles as easily as we'd maneuvered that sweet race car of a cart. Vroom...

Be well.
