Conservative In A Crop Top

Last week I went with Daniel to a small business expo, and although I didn’t necessarily have the best of times, the major benefit was getting to walk up and down a few pretty streets in Downtown Los Angeles after a solid lecture or three. The hardest part was finding something to wear. When I go to Magic, there is no imaginable dress code, but I imagined a slightly more conservative look was necessary for the business expo. My closet is lacking in the conservative section, I don’t know what to say, it’s not necessary for my general lifestyle. But it was fun putting my spin on conservative, as quite clearly crop tops don’t fall into that realm.

But, is there anything more conservative than a pencil skirt? I mean, it could be longer, but it’s a start. The skirt was just high waisted enough that a crop top wasn’t too much. This Lovers Friends top is basically the only nice top I own, and I now realize I need to find at least three more in different colors and structured textures. (got this one at their last sample sale for around $25.) They’ll go with everything, and potentially give some of my outfits a slightly more adult-ish look. Who knows…

What I’m Wearing: Nasty Gal skirt (Nasty Gal similar $26) (Forever 21 similar $22.80)| Lovers Friends crop top $125 (Forever 21 similar but long sleeve $17.90) | Jeffrey Campbell everly boots $145 (in ivory $94) | burgundy backpack

“A chief event of life is the day in which we have encountered a mind that startled us.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you have a similar top, you should tell me where you got it from!
