Big Girls

This weekend was one for the books! The gym, errands, the Look Good, Be Good, Feel Fabulous Seminar and an impromptu wedding. Last night my cousins and I headed to the beach to unwind. Years ago we'd spend many late nights on the shore just talking and being silly. This time was different as I had to check with my husband to make sure that he was ok with me leaving him with the baby. He's always been a good sleeper, but I used to be the only one that could get him down for the night. Now he basically puts himself to sleep so it wasn't a problem at all. Cousin Jan had to do the same as her baby is three weeks younger than mine. It took me a few minutes of sitting at the beachside restaurant with Kim to realize that I was outside past 10pm without my husband or my baby. It was weird. I take Grey with me everywhere yet on this night I didn't have to check on him while having conversation or stop to make a bottle mid-sentence. Things have certainly changed over the years though. In the past we spent those late nights at the beach cracking jokes and playing on the sand like children, but last night we talked about our future - mainly the little girl that Kim is due to deliver any day now...and her wedding that happened only a few hours before. Life is so different but in such an amazing way. I'm so proud of mothers and wives we've become, in addition to the careers we're cultivating through creating our own opportunities. We're still very silly and jovial when we're together, we just have more responsibility now. It kinda hit me last night...we're big girls now.
DID YOU EVER HAVE AN "AHA MOMENT" WHEN YOU REALIZED YOU WERE A GROWNUP?
love, Jin
