all of the important stuff, like pictures of ceilings and ramblings regarding my fam.

“hello! good morning! how is your day today? what did you do today?” ha! sometimes samson loves to say all of that in the same breath at 6-something in the morning at the dining room table. what did i do today? well, i just woke up. i’m still yawning and rubbing my eyes, and now i’m sitting with you! not a lot to report. but watching a toddler begin any sort of chit-chat is one of my favorite things. i want their cheery early morning riser attitudes to rub off on me. i’m not worth talking to until well after 9 in the morning. or even 10? :\ trying for their sake though.

here’s S just face-timing his aunty hannah while waiting for his food being made while we were at lunch last week. most of his facetime conversations with family these days revolve around singing his caller his favorite songs. lately he’s favoring “the itsy bitsy spider” which requires the use of his hands, so this means the caller on the other end is usually looking up at the ceiling while he sings. ha! also, THIS KID TURNS THREE TOMORROW!!!! i cannot believe he’s this big but in the same breath i absolutely can, and i’m so so proud of the good big brave and happy boy he is becoming. he lights up our world.

here are a few photos from the ceiling at root & bone last week. the light installation was just beautiful. i couldn’t stop looking at it. you know it’s good when i’m willing to pull the big real camera out of my bag to snap a photo of it, all while holding a squirmy 5 month old. ;) but isn’t it pretty? also, the fried chicken at root & bone. totally the best i’ve had here in the city.

there are moments like this one pictured where she almost looks “teenager.” and while she sits ever so calmly, i’m doing the weirdest freaking out dance inside my head because i’m just not ready for any of this. kindergarten and everything that follows…. reading and writing, crushes, bullies and mean girls, the works. i’m getting ahead of myself. but you know what i mean.

and also, this mac n’ cheese, while intended for just the kids, i could not get enough of it. ate every leftover crumb and noodle on their plate. so good.

i love this look on josh’s face. can you believe we’re celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary in a few short weeks? WHAT. still think he’s the real deal and all that other sappy love stuff that made up the entirety of my blog when i first started this thing a few months after we were married. (side note, do you ever look back at your old blog posts and just face palm? but i do that with pretty much everything in life, food or music choices, hair styles, fashion. i’m constantly face palming.) anyway, back to josh. he’s currently getting grey hair and i’m currently getting wrinkles in all the wrong places, but wow when you find your best friend and get to move through life together… it’s good.

have a wonderful friday, you guys!
