note to self: on random acts of kindness

i noticed recently there is a lack of “do good” posts online. but there sure are a ton of selfies, “i won the lottery” / “my hubby is the best” / “look how lucky i am”, 40-paragraph instagram descriptions and me/me/me posts, that’s for sure. i find it funny the number of “blessed” posts that have nothing to do with being blessed, rather it’s about the abundance of material items that someone has, or how lucky they were that day. i don’t like these very much :)

tragedy always brings out the best in people, once we’ve had a chance to adjust and figure out a game plan to move forward. but tragedy shouldn’t be the only reason we strive to bring happiness to others – we should have kindness in the back of our minds all the time. it’s so easy to make someone else happy – whether it’s coffee elf-ing, making meals for a friend in need, bringing waters donuts to the installation guys at your weddings/events, or sweeping your neighbor’s doorstep once you’ve finished yours…you can do anything to bring a smile to someone’s face, and most the time, the best acts of kindness don’t even have to cost a thing.
