I spent the last week on Ocracoke, a sliver of an island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was a true throwback in time, where locals and tourists peddle beach cruisers about town and feast on the fishermens' catch of the day. A 3.5 hour ferry ride from shore, its remoteness only enhances the pristine, undeveloped charm of the island.
Don't Miss: Eduardo's Taco Stand – the best fish tacos you will eat! Dajio's oyster plate. A couple nights at the quaint Crew's Inn (my family and friends rented the whole B and B for our stay, which was perfect for 10 people). Ocracoke Island Beach. The lighthouse. Beach cruiser rentals. Homemade Ice Cream in the noon sun from Sweet Tooth. Apres-beach cocktail hour at Howard's.
